Photo of the Day: Cracker Cattle

When you call someone a cracker today, you are more than likely offending someone with a racial slur. But that wasn't always the case, in fact it was a way to describe Florida ranchers. In the late 1800's cowmen earned the nickname cracker because of the crack sound made by their whips while herding cattle. This term stuck and was used the western term cowboy took over the region.
