Port Charlotte, Florida: The Jupiter Hammerheads headed over to the west coast for a series against the Charlotte Stone Crabs and took command of the series after sweeping the series opening doubleheader on Friday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Game one saw the visiting Hammerheads squeeze out a 3-1 win on the arm of starter Jorgan Cavanerio. Game two saw an offense explosion by the visiting Hammerheads as they cruised to 12-4 win in the night cap. While Cavanerio was getting things done on the mound, the Hammerheads offense went to work to spot their starter a lead. They pushed across a pair of runs in the second on a two-run double by Brad Haynal. Jupiter added another run in the fifth on a sac fly by Brian Anderson that scored Junior Sosa to give the Hammerheads a 3-0 lead. The Stone Crabs scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh. Jace Conrad doubled to left and scored on a single by Cristian Toribio. But they couldn’t find a way to close the gap as they fell 3-1....

Port Charlotte, Florida: After being pretty much non-existent on Monday night, the Stone Crabs offense was on fire Tuesday night as they crushed the Jupiter Hammerheads 11-3 at Charlotte Sports Park. The offense combined for 18 hits on the night and every hitter in the lineup reached base at least once. The scoring started in the first inning with the Hammerheads getting on the board with a pair of runs. JT Riddle and Austin Dean led off the inning with back to back singles. A walk to Brian Anderson would load the bases with no outs. Felix Munoz and Avery Romero would each drive in a run to give the Hammerheads a 2-0 lead. The Stone Crabs countered in the bottom of the first. Marty Gantt singled and Kean Wong doubled to lead off the inning and put two runners in scoring position. Port Charlotte, Florida: Determined to keep their momentum moving in the right direction, the Stone Crabs defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads 4-2 on Sunday at Charlotte Sports Park. The win ensures a series win against the Hammerheads. The Stone Crabs jumped out to the lead in the second inning. Tyler Goeddel opened the inning with a triple to right. Marty Gantt drove Goeddel home with a single to center. A walk to Ariel Soriano and a single by Granden Goetzman loaded the bases for the Stone Crabs with only one out. Jonathan Quinonez hit an RBI single to score Gantt. Soriano then scored on a ground ball by Tommy Coyle to give the Stone Crabs a 3-0 lead. The Stone Crabs added to their lead in the third. Josh Sale singled to right and later scored on an RBI double by Soriano to make it 4-0.  Jupiter got on the scoreboard in the fifth. Port Charlotte, Florida: With just a few games left in the regular season, the Charlotte Stone Crabs found themselves in the midst of the playoff hunt as they hosted the Jupiter Hammerheads on Sunday night at Charlotte Sports Park. The Stone Crabs pushed themselves out in front to a 4-0 lead before allowing the Hammerheads on the board in the top of the third inning. After a few more runs were exchanged, the Hammerheads scored three in the eighth to tie the game and force extra innings. The game would remain tied until the bottom of the eleventh when the Stone Crabs pushed across the winning run for the 7-6 walk-off victory. Bradenton, Florida: The Bradenton Marauders closed out the first half of the season by sweeping the Jupiter Hammerheads. The Marauders were winning side of a 5-4 home run fest on a sunny Wednesday afternoon for Camp Day at McKechnie Field. Both clubs combined for three home runs on the afternoon, two by Jupiter and one by Bradenton. The Marauders jumped out to an early lead in the second inning. All-Star MVP Aaron Baker went deep for his ninth home run of the season, a solo shot to put the Marauders ahead 1-0. The Hammerheads wasted no time in tying the game, striking for a run of their own in the third. This time it was Danny Pertusati going yard to tie the game 1-1. Port Charlotte, Florida: After two consecutive days of rain-outs, the rain stayed away long enough for the Charlotte Stone Crabs and Jupiter Hammerheads to play a doubleheader on Thursday night. The Stone Crabs swept the twin bill at Charlotte Sports Park. Game one was dominated by the Stone Crabs starting ace Matt Moore. His work on the mound combined by a big fly by Tyler Bortnick gave the Stone Crabs a 4-0 shut-out victory. The Stone Crabs took the lead in the second inning. Ryan Royster led off the inning with a double to right field. Stephen Vogt followed with a ground ball to second, but a throwing error by Jupiter’s second baseman led to Royster scoring and giving the Stone Crabs a 1-0 lead. The Stone Crabs picked up some insurance in the sixth inning. Tim Beckham doubled to left then later stole third base. Vogt then drew an intentional walk to put runners on the corners. Port Charlotte, Florida: The Charlotte Stone Crabs took a 1-0 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads on Saturday night at Charlotte Sports Park. The Stone Crabs had an assist from Mother Nature as heavy rains ended the game early. Both starting pitchers, Frank De Los Santos for the Stone Crabs and Graham Johnson for Jupiter, controlled the tempo of the game. They kept the runs off the scoreboard by going pitch for pitch and keeping the hitters at bay. The Stone Crabs broke the scoreless game ion the fourth inning. Kyeong Kang and Henry Wrigley got things going with back to back singles. Matt Sweeny drove home the run with a sac fly to center that scored Kang and gave the Stone Crabs a 1-0 lead. Shortly afterwards the skies opened up and the rain began to fall. The grounds crew covered the field but the damage was already done. Port Charlotte, Florida: The Charlotte Stone Crabs swept the Jupiter Hammerheads by winning 4-2 on Friday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Jupiter got on the scoreboard first in the third inning. Miguel Fermin led off the inning with a single to short. Fermin stole second and advanced to third on a ground out by Osvaldo Martinez. Greg Burns followed with a sac fly to left to score Fermin and give the Hammerheads a 1-0 lead. The lead held until the sixth inning when things fell apart for the Hammerheads and the Stone Crabs took advantage, striking for four runs in the inning. The inning started with a lead off double by Shawn Riggans. Henry Wrigley followed with an RBI single to right to score Riggans and tie the game. Ryan Royster was next to reach on a fielding error by Jupiter’s Luis Ott. John Matulia then delivered an RBI double to score Wrigley and move Royster to third. Jupiter, Florida: The Jupiter Hammerheads are the A-Advanced affiliate of the Florida Marlins. The Hammerheads are in the South Division of the Florida State League. The club was founded in 1998 as a Montreal Expos affiliate. Then in 2002, the clubs affiliation transferred to the Florida Marlins. Sarasota, Florida: The dry weather forced officials to cancel the post game fireworks show but that didn’t stop the Sarasota Reds from producing a few on field fireworks as they shut-out the Jupiter Hammerheads 7-0 at Ed Smith Stadium. The Reds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. They then added four more runs to their total in the third inning to lead them to the 7-0 victory.
