Preserving History

Image
In historic fire house 3 near Orlando's Loch Haven Cultural Park, the City of Orlando has preserved the history and legacy of their department. One of the historic engines on display at the museum is a 1926 American LaFrance fire engine.  The Orlando Fire Department is a full service fire department in central Florida that has protected the city of Orlando since 1885. The department has grown to 17 stations and runs over 50,000 calls annually.  Taken: May 7, 2022 at Orlando Fire Museum (Orlando, FL)

Station One, the big house of the Orlando Fire Department, lies in the heart of downtown protecting the residents and business of Orlando 24/7/365. The Big House is responsible for protecting some of the oldest and largest buildings in the city. The history of Station 1 dates back to 1885 and the crews that worked these quarters have fought some of the biggest fires in the department's history. The station was located at three different locations before finding its current home on West Central Boulevard. (Photo: July 3, 2016)
