Their courage, unwavering commitment to duty, and profound love for their country serve as a powerful reminder of the cost of our security and the precious nature of our democratic ideals. On this Memorial Day, let us ensure that their sacrifice is not forgotten, and that we actively engage in remembrance, gratitude, and a renewed appreciation for the principles they fought to uphold.  Taken: December 30, 2022 at US Soldiers & Airmen's Home Natio...

Photo of the Day: National Naval Aviation Museum

Image
When the public considers Air Force One, the image of the large VC-25 transporting the President typically comes to mind. However, it is important to note that any aircraft of the United States Air Force carrying the President assumes the designation Air Force One. This designation extends to aircraft within other branches of the armed forces, including the well-known Marine One helicopter. Notably, the National Naval Aviation Museum features Navy One, an S-3 Viking aircraft utilized by President George W. Bush for his arrival onto the USS Abraham Lincoln in 2003, where he declared the conclusion of combat operations in Iraq. This incident represents the sole occasion a Navy aircraft has carried a Commander in Chief.  Navy One was subsequently decommissioned in that same year and became an exhibit at the National Naval Aviation Museum located at Naval Air Station Pensacola. It stands among more than 150 aircraft on display, representing diverse periods of naval aviation history....
