A D-1 Derringer departs Venice Municipal Airport on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  The D-1 was developed by the Hi-Shear Corporation and built by the Wing Aircraft Corporation.  The design struggled and eventually cause a collapse of the model after just twelve aircraft were built.  (Photo: January 25, 2015)

A Great Egret collects sticks to build a nest on the rookery island at the Venice Area Audubon Rookery.  The rookery is a popular nesting area for the egrets and other birds.  The island which is surrounded by a lake with gators is a perfect place for the birds to build nests since it helps keep four legged predators away.  (Photo: January 25, 2015)

The venomous saltwater fish is native to the Indo-Pacific region however they have become a problem in the warmer Gulf and Atlantic waters due to owners releasing pet fish into the waters when they can no longer care for them. Opened in 2005, Sheikra is built to resemble a bird of prey on the hunt and features a 200 foot, 90 degree drop hurling the coaster 70 miles per hour through an inversion culminating in the giant splash down at the end. Happy New Year

Happy New Year and welcome to 2015! As we enter into the new year, Donten Photography will continue to bring you exciting new photography as you have come to expect from the site. 2014 was a whirlwind of a year. Traffic to the website continue to grow rapidly, reaching 4,676,441 visitors. That is double from last year and marks the second year in a row where we have doubled traffic to the site. It seems like it took forever to reach one million and ever since it has been climbing quickly. But it is hard to know the true reach of the website as the traffic counts do not include visits to Facebook or Twitter. Last year saw our coverage extend into Georgia on two separate trips, Savannah during Spring Break and Atlanta during Winter Break. We also continued our quest to visit all of the Florida State Parks. I provided photos of baseball and even return to shooting a couple high school football games.
