A fascinating journey through the winding paths of the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail culminates in the dramatic reveal of a magnificent troop of Western Lowland Gorillas. This meticulously designed habitat offers visitors a privileged view of these intelligent and critically endangered primates as they navigate their lush, multi-level environment. The trail is more than just a pathway; it's an immersive experience designed to transport guests deep into the dense, misty rainforests of equatorial Africa, mirroring the gorillas' native habitat. Observation decks and viewing areas allow for quiet, respectful viewing, providing insight into the complex social dynamics, foraging behaviors, and family structures of the troop, highlighting the conservation efforts dedicated to their survival.  You can see more photos from Animal Kingdom here .  Taken: August 18, 2006 at Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World (Lake Buena Vista, FL)

Yet, its true purpose extends far beyond mere hydro-powered entertainment. The adventure begins with guests boarding a circular raft, members of the fictional Kali Rapids Expeditions, embarking on a seemingly calm and serene journey down the Chakranadi River. The initial stages of the ride are a picturesque and tranquil passage, winding gently through a dense, lush jungle landscape and past crumbling, ancient Asian temples. This initial atmosphere is one of peace and natural beauty, setting a tone of serene exploration. However, the tone and the environment ...

They start by making a circle and then build upwards from there. When it is finished, the opening is on the bottom so if a predator such as a snake attempts to enter the nest, they will fall out the hole. (Photo: April 28, 2018)

WDW Weekend Trip: Day One

Image
Lake Buena Vista, Florida: With spring break and Easter in the rearview mirror, our Disney annual passes came out of blackout so we decided to make a trip to the parks for an impromptu weekend adventure. We had some baseball commitments that allowed us to get away to Central Florida so what better way to make the best of the trip than by a visit to Disney. When we got to Disney, we headed straight to Epcot for a day of exploration to kick off our Saturday. Once the rope drop we hit Spaceship Earth with no-line. While I typically skip this one for later in the day, we had FastPass+ for Test Track that wasn’t until 9:20 so we had a little bit of time. Spaceship Earth is always a great way to get a reprieve from the Florida heat as the slow moving dark ride will easily put you in the a/c for at least twenty minutes, but this early in the day that wasn’t a factor. After we concluded with Spaceship Earth, we headed towards Test Track. On the way there, we noticed that Mission S...
