Photo of the Day: Jetblue Airways

Image
The rebirth of the Blueprint livery by JetBlue Airways captures the airline’s innovative spirit, transforming a modern Airbus into a flying design sketch that celebrates the artistry behind aviation. With its intricate technical markings and blueprint-style lines stretched across a deep blue fuselage, the aircraft feels like a concept brought to life—symbolizing both the airline’s forward-thinking identity and its roots in creative disruption. As JetBlue continues to evolve its fleet and branding, this revived livery stands as a bold reminder that every flight begins with an idea, meticulously drawn and ultimately realized in the skies. A Retro Look

Image
In the aviation community, special liveries represent paint schemes that are not the primary look for an airline.  They can provide spotters with an adventure to try and see each special livery the airlines have to offer. Special liveries are used to spotlight corporate sponsorships, special events, aviation/airline milestones and even the history of an airlines. This special livery is JetBlue's retro livery.  While JetBlue is a rather new airline when it comes to the history of commercial aviation, this airline pays tribute to the golden era of aviation.  To honor this special livery, I photographed it in black and white to further enhance the retro look.  I believe this is the first black and white photo I have published so I hope you enjoy it.   Taken: May 3, 2023 at Southwest Florida International Airport (Fort Myers, FL)

Photo of the Day: Nose to Nose

Image
Pulling out of D-concourse at Southwest Florida International Airport put me nose to nose with an Airbus A321 from JetBlue Airways. The A321 is the largest of the JetBlue fleet featuring 200 seats in a 3-3 layout. Manufactured by Airbus, the A321 entered into service in 1993 and there have been over 2, 091 units produced. Photo of the Day: Up Close and Personal with the A320

Getting up close and personal with an Airbus A320 as it taxis to the active runway. The Airbus A320 is one of three aircraft that make up the fleet for JetBlue Airways. Launched by Airbus in 1984 and entering service in 1988, the A320 is a narrow body aircraft features six across seating making it a popular option for airlines. With over 9,200 aircraft delivered to more than 330 operators, the Airbus A320 surpassed the Boeing 737 as the most popular airlines. (Photo: February 3, 2020)

Photo of the Day: You're Blue Close

Image
"If you can read this, you're blue close." That is the catchy slogan on the nose of a JetBlue Airbus. Each aircraft in the JetBlue fleet features a clever phrase which adds a blue take to a popular slogan in pop history. (Photo: January 9, 2020)

Photo of the Day: Some Gave All

Image
For 343 brave firefighters from the New York City Fire Department, tomorrow would never come. They gave all in defense of the city and to try and rescue the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. They ran in when every sense in their body told them to stay out. They lost their lives giving everything they had to the city that day and we must never forget them and all the heroes of 9/11. To honor these heroes, JetBlue pays tribute to them with the "Blue's Bravest" aircraft, a daily memorial to those that gave their life on that day. (Photo: November 10, 2014)

Photo of the Day: The Night Before the World Changed

Image
As millions of Americans kissed their loved ones good night on September 10, 2001, they never knew that the world would forever change in the morning. 23 of NYPD's finest would never see their families again when they headed in to shift in the morning. To honor their memory, JetBlue flies "Blue's Finest" a tribute to the brave police officers that would lose their life serving the Big Apple. (Photo: June 21, 2018)

Tampa, Florida:    While in the bay area today, we made a brief stop at Tampa International Airport.  Runway 19 was in use so I took a spot on the north side of the short term parking garage.  We were not there long but still managed to get nine new aircraft photographed in less than a half an hour.  Included in the group was an Embraer from Contour Airlines, my first for this airline.  Here is a look of what was seen during today's visit: C-GBHR – Airbus A319 (Air Canada Rouge)  N200WN – Boeing 737-700 (Southwest Airlines) #  N283WN – Beoing 737-700 (Southwest Airlines) #  N350AG – Saab 340 (Silver Airways)  N410UP – Boeing 757-200 (UPS)  N431UA – Airbus A320 (United Airlines)  N564WN – Boeing 737-700 (Southwest Airlines)  N630JB – Airbus A320 (JetBlue Airways)  N724SW – Boeing 737-700 (Southwest Airlines)  N751CX – Boeing 757-200 (Air Transport International)  N761RR – Boeing 737-700 (South...

Orlando, Florida: On a recent trip to the East Coast, we made a brief stop by Orlando International Airport to see the arrival of a few international heavy flights. It was raining and stormy so we were not going to stay long, but there was an A350 and a 747 both inbound so I braved the elements for a few minutes. We found a spot along the approach to Runway 17L at a corporate park and watched the arrival of a few aircraft. In the shot time at the field, I photographed: N202FR – Airbus A320 (Frontier Airlines)  PR-XTE – Airbus A350 (LATAM)  G-VROM – Boeing 747-400 (Virgin Atlantic)  N643JB – Airbus A320 (JetBlue Airways)  N560UW – Airbus A321 (American Airlines)  As you can see, Airbus was the big winner today. You can see these aircraft and all my photos from MCO at my Orlando International Airport photo gallery .

Sarasota, Florida:   Caught a few hours of arrival traffic today at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.  The winds favored Runway 14 in use so I chose a spot at the approach side of Runway 14 near Erickson Marine.  This location at the dead-end of Somerset provide a great view of arrival traffic as well as some up close taxi views for the departing aircraft.  Here is a look at what I saw today: Piper Cherokee - N9614C   Bombardier Challenger 300 - N874WD   Airbus A319 - N310NV Cirrus Vision Jet - N348MW    Boeing 737-900 - N27477   Cessna Citation Excel - N632XL   Embraer Phenom 300 - N427QS   Airbus A320 - N547JB   McDonnell Douglas MD-88 - N947DL   Airbus A319 - N810AW   Embraer 175 - N429YX   Robinson R-44 - N60FM   Airbus A319 - N820UA McDonnell Douglas MD-88 - N983DL

Fort Myers, Florida: On a trip to Fort Myers, I managed to squeeze in some planespotting time at Southwest Florida International Airport. Here at RSW, there is an official observation area located along the north side of the airfield off of Air Cargo Lane. From here you have a view of the runway area, which is a single runway making it easy for spotting. Today Runway 6 was active, making for landing traffic in front of the observation area. Here is a look at what aircraft arrived or departed during my time at the airport: Boeing 717-200 - N893AT Airbus A320 - N329FR Embraer Legacy 6000 - N600LP Canadair Regional Jet CRJ-200 - N155MW Beechcraft Beechjet - N61GB Airbus A319 - N808AW Airbus A320 - N422UA Boeing 757-200 - N690DL Airbus A320 - JetBlue N643JB Airbus A320 - N402UA Embraer 190 - N296JB Boeing 757-200 - N696DL Airbus A319 - N831AW Boeing 737-800 - N970NN Boeing 767-300 - C-GHPE ...

While on the way back from ZooTampa, we stopped for dinner at McAllister's Deli over by Tampa International Airport.  While there, I decided to look at the incoming flights for TPA.  I was surprised to see Edelweiss on the arrival list so after dinner I headed over to try and catch it. The winds favored Runway 1 so rather than heading to the parking garage, I went to Cypress Point Park at the base of Runway 1L. We were not here long but here is look at what we caught in about 15 minutes of spotting. Airbus A319 - N819AW Boeing 737-800 - N863NN Airbus A330 - HB-JHR Boeing 757-200 - N660DL Embraer 190 - N279JB

JetBlue Airways is knows for its playful aircraft names and some spectacular special paint schemes on a few of their aircraft.  Recently they revealed their newest aircraft paint scheme, Blueprint.  Blueprint is designed to look like the blueprints of an aircraft.  This is the first Embraer 190 that the airline has painted with a special livery.  Here is a photo of it arriving at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport yesterday.  (Photo: May 7, 2017)
