Bradenton Marauders vs Daytona Cubs

Bradenton, Florida: The Bradenton Marauders hosted the Daytona Cubs on Tuesday night in a Florida State League regular season match-up at historic McKechnie Field. The fans were treated to a great pitching/defensive duel which saw the Cubs earning a hard fought 1-0 win. Charlotte Stone Crabs vs Daytona Cubs

Port Charlotte, Florida: The Stone Crabs took 3 of 4 from the league leading Daytona Cubs by winning the series finale by the score of 10-2 on Friday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Rays starter Jeff Niemann pitched four scoreless innings during a rehab start to set the tempo while the Stone Crabs offense posted six runs in the first two innings to get ahead and never look back. The Stone Crabs scored four run in the first inning to get the game started. Hak-Ju Lee led of the inning with a walk. Tyler Bortnick followed with a single to third. Manager Jim Morrison then called for a double steal and both runners advanced one bag closer to home. Greg Sexton drew a walk to load the bases. Then Mayo Acosta drew a bases loaded walk to drive home the first run of the inning. Bortnick scored on a sac fly by Anthony Scelfo. Two more runs came off a double by Mark Thomas that scored Sexton and Acosta. The Stone Crabs sent eight hitters to the plate in the inning and walked away with a 4-0 lead....

Charlotte Stone Crabs vs Daytona Cubs

Port Charlotte, Florida: It was the longest game in franchise history with 19 innings of baseball being played on Monday night at Charlotte Sports Park. When the dust settled over five hours from the first pitch, the Charlotte Stone Crabs fell to the Daytona Cubs 4-3. The evening marked the return of Rocco Baldelli the Tampa Bay organization after being signed to a minor league contract earlier on Monday. Baldelli started as the designated hitter for the Stone Crabs during the marathon game. The loss was the Stone Crabs fifth consecutive loss. Daytona jumped out to an early lead in the fist inning. DJ LeMahieu doubled to right then later advanced to third on a wild pitch. LeMahieu then scored on a single by Ryan Flaherty. Michael Brenly followed with a single to center. Kyler Burke drove home both runners with a double to center, giving the Cubs a 3-0 lead. The Stone Crabs added a run of their own in the bottom of the first. Port Charlotte, Florida: The Charlotte Stone Crabs defeated the Daytona Cubs 10-2 on Saturday night at Charlotte Sports Park. The Stone Crabs got things started in the first by Emeel Salem drawing a walk. Salem advanced to second on a ground out by Greg Sexton and then drove home on an RBI single by Matt Fields to give the Stone Crabs a 1-0 lead. The Stone Crabs opened things up in the third by putting five runs on the board. The inning kicked of with back to back singles by Christian Lopez and Shawn O’Malley. Emeel Salem drew his second walk of the night to load the bases for the Stone Crabs. But they didn’t stay loaded long, Greg Sexton hit a bases clearing triple to score all three base runners. Sexton later scored on an RBI single by Matt Fields. Cody Cipriano grounded into what was thought to be a double play, but Cipriano reached second thanks to a throwing error by Daytona’s second baseman Nate Samson. Sarasota Reds vs Daytona Cubs

Sarasota, Florida: The Sarasota Reds rode the dominating arm of starting pitcher Jordan Smith to a 5-1 victory over the Daytona Cubs on Saturday night at Ed Smith Stadium. Smith pitched eight scoreless frames before allowing his only run of the night in the ninth inning. The game remained tied 0-0 until the home half of the fourth inning when the Reds pushed across their first run of the evening. Chris Heisey led off the inning with a line drive double to left field. Heisey would advance to third on a ground out by Jason Louwsma. Eddy Rodriguez drove home the run with an RBI single to center to give the Reds a 1-0 lead. The Reds posted two more runs in the fifth inning as they delivered back to back to back triples to push across the runs. Justin Turner got the hit parade started with a double to center. Todd Frazier followed with an RBI double to score Turner. Then Frazier crossed the plate on an RBI double by Juan Francisco to give the Reds a 3-0 lead. The Reds would further ...

Daytona Beach, Florida: The Daytona Cubs are the Class A-Advanced affiliates of the Chicago Cubs. They play in the North Division of the Florida State League and are four time league champions. Minor league baseball in Daytona Beach dates back to 1920 but the Cubs affiliate began in 1993. Many major league stars got their start in Daytona, including some Hall of Famers from the early affiliates. The Cubs play their home schedule at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The Jack is located on the waterfront in downtown Daytona Beach and can accommodate 5,100 fans. The ballpark opened 1914 and features the feel of the vintage ballparks of years gone by.
