Take a look out the window as our Comair CRJ-200 flies high above the clouds during a flight in 2004.  The view out the window is amazing and one of my favorite things about flying.  This photo comes from the first leg of our journey from Harrisburg to Atlanta.  (Photo: May 1, 2004)

Airline Profile: Shuttle America

Indianapolis Indiana: Shuttle American is a regional airline that serves as connection service for Delta and United Airlines. Based in Indianapolis, Shuttle America is part of the Republic Airways group.  The airline was founded in 1995 as a local carrier service, offering low cost flights between Hartford and Buffalo. The airline grew as a regional carrier, offering low rates to popular business destinations in the northeast. During this time, they were flying over 3,000 passengers a day without a major airline partnership. Like most smaller airlines, Shuttle America fell into bankruptcy following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. After filing bankruptcy, they were purchased by Wexford Holdings. After the purchase by Wexford, Shuttle American began a codeshare agreement with US Airways and later United Airlines. Shuttle America was purchased again in 2005, this time by Republic Airways. Airline Profile: Comair

Cincinnati, Ohio: Comair is a subsidiary airline operated by Delta Airlines as a Delta Connections service. Based in Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport, they provide over 400 flights a day to over 70 destinations. Comair started in 1977 as a small airline, operating two Piper Navajo aircraft. They went public in 1981 and became a Delta Connection in 1984. Delta purchased almost a quarter of Comair stock in 1986 before purchasing the entire operation in 1999. Comair operates a fleet of 74 aircraft. They include the Bombardier CRJ-100ER, Bombardier CRJ-200ER, Bombardier CRJ-700ER and the Bombardier CRJ-900ER. Their fleet is anticipated to reduce in the coming months as they retire the aging CRJ-100 ER’s. Comair flies to 70 destinations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas.
