Located just steps away from the White House, the Willard Hotel is one of the most historically significant hotel in the Nation's capital.  Over 150 years of history can be found within the walls of the hotel.  From providing a safe haven for President Lincoln during his first inauguration to Dr Martin Luther King Jr finishing his "I Have a Dream Speech", the Willard has had a front seat.  It has been a prominent location for every president since Franklin Pierce.  (Photo: February 15, 2009)

Bright House Field in Clearwater is consistently voted as the top baseball facility in Florida.  Built in 2004. Bright House Field is the spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies and regular season home of the Clearwater Threshers of the Florida State League.  The stadium has seating for 7,000 but the grass berms help swell attendance to 8,500.  (Photo: May 17, 2008)

The B-17 Flying Fortress “Aluminum Overcast” sits on display at Sarasota-Bradenton International during a stop on its nationwide tour. The B-17 was a World War II bomber operated in the European theater of war by the Eighth Air Force. This particular aircraft (44-85740) was completed at the conclusion of World War II and never saw combat action. It was donated the EAA in 1983 and was restored to look lke a B-17 from the 398th Bomb Group. The real “Aluminum Overcast” was shot down over France on its 345th combat mission. The Ford Tri-Motor lands at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport following a heritage flight. The unique Ford Tri-Motor was three engine aircraft produced by the Ford Motor Company from 1925 through 1933. They produced 199 aircraft of which only 18 are still left in existence today. Of those remaining, only eight are still airworthy. The EAA owns two of the airworthy Ford Tri-Motor aircraft and travels the country with them to highlight the early days of passanger air travel. RARE Event Comes to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be bringing their Round-Engine Aircraft Ride Event (RARE) to the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport on February 5 through 8. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to fly aboard not one but two historic aircraft, A Ford-Tri-Motor and a B-17 Flying Fortress. They will be offering rides on both aircraft during their visit as well as ground tours of the B-17. The tour is sponsored by the EAA Chapter 188. Tickets and more info about the event can be found on their website . Check back later for photos from the event.
