Photo of the Day: Lurking in the River

An American Alligator can be seen just lurking beneath the surface of the Myakka River at Myakka River State Park in Eastern Sarasota County. The Myakka River is home to thousands of these prehistoric reptiles. Alligators are cold-blooded and rely on the river and its banks to regulate their temperature. (Photo: July 4, 2018)
