Photo of the Day: Playing in the Mud

An Asian Elephant blows mud over its back at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.  While it looks like this elephant is just playing in the mud, it is trying to keep cool in the Florida heat.  The water is cooling to the skin of the elephant and the mud acts as sunscreen helping to prevent the elephant's skin from sunburn.  (Photo: October 5, 2019)
