Magic Kingdom: Mickey’s Toontown Fair
Lake Buena Vista, Florida: The newest and smallest land in the Magic Kingdom is one of the biggest hits to the parks smaller guests. At Mickey’s Toontown Fair you can meet and mingle with many of the parks characters, tour Mickey and Minnie’s house or hop a ride on a roller coaster, it is all here for your enjoyment.The land began its life as Mickey’s Birthdayland in 1988, as part of Mickey Mouse’s 60th birthday celebration. The popularity of the attraction led to it becoming a permanent land. Once the celebration was over, the land was renamed Mickey’s Starland. In 1996, the land was renovated to take on a county fair theme and then was renamed Mickey’s Toontown Fair.
The main attraction of the land is the character meets. This is one place within the park where characters are always available to meet with guests. Here you can meet Mickey Mouse himself as a judge in the fair. The Toontown Hall of Fame is one of the largest collection of characters available in the park. Here you can meet Mickey’s Pals, Princesses, Disney Villains and more.
The only ride attraction of Mickey’s Toontown Fair is Goofy’s Barnstormer. Climb aboard a crop dusting airplane with Goofy and take a wild ride over Wiseacres Farm before crashing through the barn. The family rollercoaster completes its circuit in less then a minute and is suitable for children 35” and taller.
Donald’s Boat is an interactive water play area for children. The little ones can hop aboard Miss Daisy and have a wet and wild time while there parents get a much needed break.
The land is also home to Mickey and Minnie’s Country Houses. The house of the mouse and his main squeeze are available for self tour. As you stroll through Mickey’s House, you can check out his larger then life furnishings, go outside and see Pluto’s dog house and much more. The trip through Mickey’s backyard heads into the judge’ tent where you can meet Mickey. Minnie’s house is also a self guided tour and takes you through her house. Smell the fresh baked cookies and see her award winning two-lip flower collection.
The Toontown Farmer’s Market is the only place to grab a bite to eat. They feature fresh fruit, snacks and drinks to grab and go.
If you are looking for a souvenir, you can visit the County Bounty or Mickey’s Toontown Fair Souvenirs. Both shops feature clothing, toys and more.
Mickey’s Toontown Fair is the only land in the Magic Kingdom that is not accessible via the central hub. There is a pathway from Fantasyland and another from Tomorrowland that will lead you to the entrance to the land. You can also visit the land aboard the Walt Disney World Railroad as Toontown Fair has its very own train station.
In late 2009, the Walt Disney World Resort announced major changes to the Magic Kingdom. The plans called for an expansion of Fantasyland. But that expansion is coming at the expense of Mickey’s Toontown Fair. The land is scheduled to be closed permanently in early 2011.
