Day Two: WDW Trip November 2007
Lake Buena Vista, Florida: We woke up early and hit the cafeteria in the hotel for breakfast. It was early enough that it was not crowded yet. The food was average, nothing spectacular but it hit the spot. Afterwards we hopped on the bus to the Magic Kingdom.Once the park opened, we headed straight for Fantasyland. Fantasyland has the largest collection of rides that our son could ride. We hit every ride in Fantasyland before heading to Mickey’s Toontown Fair to ride Barnstormer.
We continued our tour of the park through Tomorrowland where we rode the Tomorrowland Speedway, Tomorrowland Transit Authority and Carousel of Progress. We tried to stick to the rides that were appropriate for a two year old so the whole family can enjoy, however it was tough passing by Space Mountain and not going for a ride.
As we crossed across the central hub to hit attractions on the other side of the park, we stopped for lunch at the Columbia Harbour House. The Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square is one of my favorite spots to eat at in WDW. It is a quick service restaurant that features fish and chips as well as clam chowder. The meal is great and we eat here almost every time we visit the Magic Kingdom.
After lunch we resumed our touring of the Magic Kingdom with a stop by the Haunted Mansion. It does not matter how many times I ride the Haunted Mansion, I see something new each and every time.
We then continued into Frontierland where we visited Tom Sawyers Island and watched the County Bears. We then headed over to Adventureland for a ride on the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Our tour of the Magic Kingdom took us through late afternoon and the little guy was getting exhausted, so we decided to head back to the hotel. We made our trek back to the entrance by using the Walt Disney World Railroad. No trip to the Magic Kingdom would be complete without a journey on the railroad. Plus it’s a great way to get to the park entrance by avoiding the crowds. We boarded the train in Frontierland and traveled around to the Main Street USA station where we disembarked and attempted to hit the exit. However we were sidetracked in the process. While onboard the train, my wife saw a toddler with a Mickey hat that said Baby’s First Haircut and the parents talking about the barbershop experience on Main Street. Well we took our son there for a haircut before leaving the park for the day.
When we got back to the hotel, our son took a nap and I went on a walking tour of the hotel. The hotel is pretty compact and each building feature larger then life sports icons. During the tour, I found the playground and after nap time, we took him there to play for a little while.
We had dinner at the cafeteria in the hotel then went over to Fort Wilderness to play with the dog. After spending time with the dog, we went to the campfire program. Each night, the staff of Fort Wilderness put on a great program. Hosted by Chip and Dale, they sing songs, roast marshmallows and watch a Disney movie under the stars. Tonight’s movie was Fox and the Hound. After the movie was over, we went back to the hotel to end the day.
