Epcot: World Showcase-Canada Pavilion

Cottage in the Canda Pavilion in Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FloridaLake Buena Vista, Florida: Rocky slopes and waterfalls of the Canadian Rockies to the tall totem poles of the Pacific Northwest, the only thing missing is the snowfall. No detail is spared as Walt Disney World Imagineers try to make the Canada Pavilion at Epcot’s World Showcase as realistic as possible.

One of the original counties of World Showcase, the Canada Pavilion opened to the public in 1982 with the grand opening of Epcot. The pavilion is one of the two gateway countries of the World Showcase, it is the first or last country you will visit in your journey around the world.

The pavilion is built to resemble many of the prominent features of Canada. There is a miniature re-creation of the Canadian Rockies, three totem poles similar to those found along the Pacific Northwest, a garden built to resemble Victoria Gardens in British Columbia and a large, elegant hotel modeled after the Chateau Laurier of Ottawa.

The one and only attraction of the Canada pavilion is a Circle-Vision 360 film called O’ Canada. The 14-minute film narrated by Martin Short takes guests on a coast to coast tour of Canada. While the film shows its age in some places, it is a stunning look at our neighbor to the north.

The Canada pavilion is home to one of the best restaurants in all of Walt Disney World, Le Cellier. Located in the Hotel du Canada, the restaurant features a menu of seafood, prime beef cuts and a selection of beer and wine from Canada.

The pavilion also features plenty of shopping. The Northwest Mercantile, a shop featuring everything Canada. The store located inside a native longhouse contains lumberjack shirts, hockey jerseys, wilderness Christmas ornaments and even maple syrup available for purchase. La Boutique De Provinces contains jewelry and keepsakes with French Canadian charm.

The Celtic Rock band Off Kilter entertains guests several times a day. They perform a high energy 30 minutes show several times a day at the Canada pavilion. The band has been performing since 1997 and features the traditional kilts and bagpipes.

As with all the World Showcase pavilions, Canada has a KIDCOT area featuring a special project for the kids.
