Majesty of the Seas
Miami, Florida: At one time, the Majesty of the Seas was one of the premiere cruise ships in the fleet. With the advancements in cruising, the Majesty does not have all the features of its sisters in the other classes, but it is still a prominent member of the Royal Caribbean fleet.Built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France, the Majesty was the third and final ship of the Sovereign class. The class featured large atriums, glass elevators and an entire deck of balcony rooms. They were the first mega-ships and led the industry through the early nineties. The Majesty set sail on its maiden voyage on April 26, 1992.
The Majesty measures in at 880 feet in length and weighs over 73,941 tons. The ship has 14 decks containing 1,829 staterooms capable of providing accommodations for 2,744 passengers. The ships cruises at a speed of 18 knots and employs 4 stabilizers to aid in smoothing the ride.
The Majesty features a few of the popular amenities that are known to the Royal Caribbean fleet. Some of the amenities include: rock climbing wall, 2 swimming pools, 2 whirlpools, basketball court, Royal Caribbean online, Majesty Day Spa, Casino Royale, Viking Crown Lounge, Windjammer, Adventure Ocean, Johnny Rockets and more.
Here is a layout of the decks and what can be found on them:
• Deck One: crew area, operations area.
• Deck Two: staterooms.
• Deck Three: Moonlight Dining Room, Centrum, Photo Gallery and staterooms.
• Deck Four: Starlight Dining Room, Centrum, Guest Relations, Explorations and staterooms.
• Deck Five: Boutiques of Centrum, Casino Royal, Schooner Bar, A Chorus Line Theater and staterooms.
• Deck Six: staterooms.
• Deck Seven: Boleros, Conference Center, A Chorus Line Theater and staterooms.
• Deck Eight: Spectrum Lounge and staterooms.
• Deck Nine: Day Spa, Fitness Center and staterooms.
• Deck Ten: Adventure Ocean and staterooms.
• Deck Eleven: Swimming pools, sports deck and Windjammer Marketplace.
• Deck Twelve: Johnny Rockets, Compass Deli, Sorrento’s Pizza and sundeck.
• Deck Fourteen: Viking Crown.
In 2007, the Majesty was dry docked and received a multi-million dollar refurbishment. During this time, all of the public areas were renovated as well as new features added to the ship.
Currently the Majesty offers alternating Bahamas itineraries originating from the Port of Miami. The three night itinerary features stops at Nassau and Cococay. The four night itinerary adds a stop in Key West.
