A Drummer Boy Christmas Tour: The 2022 LIVE Experience
Fort Myers, Florida: Christmas is right around the corner and there is no better way to ring in the holiday season than listening to great Christmas music with family and friends. That’s what happened on Thursday night as Fort King and Country brought their Drummer Boy Christmas Tour to Hertz Arena, the first of three Sunshine State concerts for the Aussie brothers.
This tour did not feature an opening act, it was two sets of hits from For King and Country. They played their Christmas hits as well as mixed in a bunch of their regular songs as well. And of course, the night ended with their high energy rendition of The Drummer Boy.
We have seen a few of their concerts in the past and they never disappoint. Our last concert in Tampa, we were spoiled following a complimentary VIP floor seats. It was an amazing experience so this year we booked the VIP experience and secured ourselves VIP floor seats right against the stage.
For this concert, the VIP experience included a question and answer with Joel and Luke. The brothers answered questions ranging from their favorite Christmas songs, their upcoming movie, travelling with family, Christmas traditions and much more. It was an opportunity to learn more about their lives, inspirations and faith.
After the Q&A session we made our way to our seats. We were in Section 3, Row 12 which put us at the stage and by the aisles which the band used several times during the show to transition from stage to stage.
If you’ve never been to a For King and Country concert, the only way to describe it is high energy. These guys give it 110% all show long. In addition to their amazing vocal performance, they are playing instruments of all types. They fly around the stage all set long making everyone feel like they have a front seat.

While the band and the show were amazing, I do not have the same feelings for Hertz Arena and their staff and management of the event. For a venue that hosts a championship hockey team, they have no clue how to manage a concert like this in my opinion. We had quite a few issues personally and with those around us and they were completely mishandled by the staff. Then when returning home I read a bunch more similar comments from other concert goers who had similar interactions so we were not alone. From the rude security agents to a ban on standing/dancing on the floor seats just to name a few. I mean you have the band saying get up and get into the song and then have ushers telling you to sit down, it really ruined the experience. In the row in front of us, a couples seats were not there and the usher argued with them and said that their tickets were wrong. Just an unprofessional look all the way around. While it is no fault of the band, it really put a dark side to an otherwise amazing night and I will never attend another concert at Hertz Arena.
The band did not disappoint as they always put on an amazing show. The 2022 Christmas tour continues through December 19 and if they are coming near you and are not sold out, I highly recommend checking them out. We are already looking at tickets for their Spring show!
