Key Agency vs Labadie Construction
Englewood, Florida: What has been an exciting battle so far this season, the top teams in Englewood Little League locked horns for another exciting game of baseball on Thursday night at Englewood Sports Complex. The usual dominating pitching staff of Key Agency could not contain the powerful bat of Labadie slugger Trey Rutan who went deep twice to lead Labadie to a 7-4 win.
Labadie took the lead in the first inning. Leadoff hitter Charlie Dillmore drew a walk to get things going. He would later score on Rutan’s first homer of the night, a two run shot to right to put them ahead 2-0. Key Agency cut the lead in half by scoring in the bottom of the first.
Jake Patrick led off the inning with a walk. He moved to second on a passed ball and later to third on a ground out by Cody Mayes. Jake Patrick then scored on a passed ball to make it 2-1.
Labadie answered by scoring three more runs in the third inning. Dillmore reached on error followed by Wyatt Seckel getting hit by a pitch. A single by Rutan would score Dillmore. Labadie loaded the bases after Josh Alexander reached on a dropped third strike. Wyatt Bush would pick up a painful RBI after being hit by a pitch with bases loaded to score Seckel. Then Rutan would score on a wild pitch to increase their lead to 5-1.
Key Agency added another run to their tally by scoring in the third. They loaded the bases folliwng a walk to Jake Patrick, a single by Cody Mayes and Troy Reames getting hit by a pitch. Gabe Todaro drew a bases loaded walk to score Jake Patrick make it 5-2.
Labadie got another run in the fourth inning when Rutan went deep to left for his second homer of the night, a solo shot to make it 6-2.
Key Agency matched runs in the fourth, adding a run of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Timmy Distefano singled and later scored on an RBI double by Nick George to cut the lead in half at 6-3.
Labadie scored again in the fifth inning. Bush drew a four pitch walk to open the inning. He later scored on a bunt single by JP Schlicher to increase the lead to 7-3.
Key Agency scratched out one more run on the night by scoring in the bottom of the sixth. Distefano singled to lead off the inning. He later scored on a ground out by George. But that was all Key Agency could muster as they fell 7-4.
