Photo of the Day: North Port Fire-Rescue

Rescue 83 of the North Port Fire-Rescue sits outside their main station, Station 81. The department was founded in 1961 as the North Port Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department. Today the NPFR services over 55,000 residents and approximately 75 square miles. They operate five stations and provide fire suppression, advanced life support, fire prevention and emergency management functions. (Photo: December 15, 2004)
