Photo of the Day: Walt Disney World

"We believe in our idea: a family park where parents and children could have fun - together." These are the words etched in brass below the "Partners" statue in the central hub of the Magic Kingdom park. It's this ideology that has kept Walt Disney World ahead of the competition when it comes to family theme parks. Today World Disney World celebrates its 40th Anniversary. Opened on October 1, 1971, the resort has grown to four theme parks, two water parks and twenty three hotels which welcome over 40 million visitors each year. (Photo: August 20, 2006)
