Islands of Adventure: Marvel Super Hero Island
The centerpiece of the island is the Incredible Hulk Coaster. Towering over the island, the neon green coaster shoots guests up the launch hill, reaching 40 miles per hour in only two seconds. The coaster features 7 inversions while reaching speeds of 67 miles per hour and pulling 4 G’s at one point during the ride. The top rated roller coaster is based on a Bruce Banner project gone wrong. As riders are in the Project Gama tube, the project malfunctions and guests are shot out of the tube embarking on a wild ride.
Next to the coaster is the duel towers for Doctor Doom’s Fearfall. The towers are the tallest attraction in the park, shooting guests 200 feet in the air. Guests are shoot upward and then freefall back to the ground. The ride is located in the Latverian Embassy, the hiding place for Doctor Doom’s headquarters. Doctor Doom has created a weapon destroy the Fantastic Four and need fear fuel to operate the weapon. The goal is to collect fear fuel from screaming riders on the towers.
Storm Force Accelatron was opened in 2000, one year after the opening of the park. The ride is a teacup style ride featuring several circular vehicles that spin around the circle track. Guests can make the car spin faster by turning the wheel located in the center of the car. The storyline of the ride is that Magneto is threatening the world and its up to Storm, Professor Xavier and you to stop him. You use the special cars to harness the energy of Mother Nature, the faster you spin, the more energy you collect. In the end riders need to collect enough energy to help defeat Magneto.
The fourth ride of the island is the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. The 3-D ride combines a moving vehicle with 3-D special effects to make a unique ride experience. Guest enter the Daily Bugle and board the Bugle van on the journey to get the story. While onboard, you learn that Sinister Syndicate has stolen the Statue of Liberty. Now its up to Spider-Man to save the day while you try and get the story while encountering several of Spider-Mans villains along the way.
