Key Agency vs Labadie Construction

Englewood, Florida: A battle of the unbeaten major division teams excited Little League fans as Key Agency hosted Labadie Construction on Tuesday night at Englewood Sports Complex. Both teams entered the evening contest without a loss. A dominating starting pitching performance combined with a red-hot offense led to Key Agency ending the night with a big win.

Key Agency jumped out to an early two run lead in the first inning. Cody Mayes got the inning started with a single to center. Mays moved into scoring position following a single by Bryce Noll. MJ Patrick broke the scoreless tie with a single to give them the lead. A wild pitch would score Noll to give Key Agency a 2-0 lead.

Key Agency struck for three more runs in the second. Timmy Distefano singled to lead off the inning. A hart hit ball by Gabe Todaro scored Distefano. Donte Taylor took a pitch to the ribs to put runners on the corners for Key Agency. Taylor then moved into scoring position after stealing second. Todaro scored and Taylor moved to third following a wild pitch. Mayes then plated a run with an RBI single to score Taylor and give Key Agency a 5-0 lead.

The Key Agency offense continued to grind it out in the third inning. Distefano reached on an error to get the inning going. Todaro followed with a single to put two runners on the bases. Todaro then broke for second on a steal while Distefano snuck home on the throw. A single by Taylor scored Todaro, but the inning ended when Taylor tried to stretch the single into a double, getting thrown out at second to end the inning with Key Agency in front 7-0.

Key Agency pushed across another run in the fourth inning. Mayes singled to lead off the inning and later scored on an RBI double by Noll to make it 8-0.

While the offense was lighting up the scoreboard, Key Agency’s starting pitcher Noll was shutting down the opponent’s offense. He threw four shut-out innings racking up 7 strikeouts before giving way to the bullpen in the fifth inning.

Key Agency’s reliever Taylor struggled with control in the fifth. Two walks, a hit an error and a couple wild pitches/passed balls allowed Labadie Construction to cut the lead in half 8-4.

Key Agency added a run in the fifth. Andrew Pulaskie reached on a dropped third strike to lead off the inning. He later scored on a hard hit ball by Mayes that looked like it might be the first homer of the season, but it was hit to the deepest part of the park, bouncing off the center field fence for an RBI double to give Key Agency a 9-4 lead.

Key Agency made a pitching change in the sixth, bring in Mayes to pitch the final frame. He finished the inning without allowing a run to secure the 9-4 win.
