Spanish Point Ghost Hunting Tour

Osprey, Florida: For the third straight year, we went to Historic Spanish Point for their annual Ghost Hunting Tour. Life at Spanish Point dates back over 5,000 years and in turn has plenty of opportunities to have paranormal experiences.

A little but of procrastination combined with a busy schedule almost caused us to miss this year’s event. But we managed to get booked on the 7pm tour. While I was a little worried that it would be a little too bright still at the beginning of the tour, it turned out to be dark at just the right time.

Shortly after seven, our group led by our tour guide Kara set off on a journey through the haunted history of Historic Spanish Point. For much of the night, our paranormal phone app was relatively quiet which is unusual for Spanish Point. In the past, our app would be going off like crazy but tonight it seemed to not be as active. Even the stop at the Guptil House did not provide any hits on the app like in other visits.

It wasn’t until the Pioneer Cemetery near the end of the tour when the EMF detectors and phone app started getting active. This is also when a few experiences were observed. It started when one of the guides placed an EMF detector on top of a gravestone. The detector moved a few inches and then lit up. Then when they were talking to the spirit, the spirit was responding by making the EMF detector light blink on and off on command. At this time, our phone app was also going crazy and showing a lot of activity as well.

The final experience was as we were ending the tour, Kara was ringing the church bell and as she was done and securing the bell, it rang an additional time.

Once the tour had concluded, we went home and began going through the almost 400 photos taken during the tour. The photos too revealed quite a bit of anomalies that we did not see as we were walking around. One of the most chilling photos was as we were walking down the path, my wife was in front and I was behind her, I took a photo forward and beside here was what appeared to be a lady in white walking beside her, the next photo it was gone.

Another strange thing I noticed during processing the photos was the fact that despite the fact that both camera were set the same, were focused and all settings locked in, BOTH cameras lost their setting during the Guptill House stop.

The remainder of the photo evidence was orbs from various parts of the property.

As always, the ghost hunting trip at Historic Spanish Point did not disappoint. This was our third time and I am already looking forward to next year’s trip. One thing I did hear when talking to their staff, they are planning a winter ghost hunting tour this year which will be great.

For those of you who may be interested, Historic Spanish Point will be recreating a Victorian Funeral next Friday (October 30). This will conclude their Halloween Happenings. There is a possibility that we may attend and if we do, you can count on seeing some photos of the event here. You can find out more about the funeral even on Historic Spanish Point’s website.
