Photo of the Day: Ford Trimotor

The Ford Trimotor owned by the Experimental Aircraft Association performs a flight over Sarasota Bay during a recent visit to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. The Fort Trimotor was produced by Ford Motor Company from 1925 through 1933 and 199 of them were placed into service. Today only 18 remain in existence and only 8 of them are still airworthy. This one owned by the EAA was built in 1929 and travels the country providing flights in the classic aircraft. (Photo: February 3, 2014)

  1. We watched it flying over Lido beach and other spots around the area, my step father loved seeing it each time

    1. It was cool watching it fly. It caught my eye as I was heading north on 41, so I pulled into the Van Wezel parking lot and got this photo. I didn't think I would get to see it with the weather we have been having.
