Coronado Springs Resort

Ranchos Building at Coronado Springs Resort.Lake Buena Vista, Florida: Off the beaten path and tucked away in the Animal Kingdom region of Walt Disney World, the Cornado Springs Resort brings elements of the Mexico and the Southwestern United States and drops them right in the middle of Central Florida.

Opened in 1997, the Coronado Springs was Walt Disney World’s first moderate hotel and was built with the business traveler in mind. The resorts convention center is the largest on the Disney property with over 220,000 square feet of meeting space.

The resort features 1,915 guestrooms in three distinct villages surrounding a 15 acre lake. The rooms are in the moderate class and are 314 square feet and feature moderate class amenities like a flat screen television, coffee maker, table and chairs and a small refrigerator. In 2009, the resort added club rooms that feature the above amenities and add a DVD player, personalized front desk service, turndown service and a lounge features a continental breakfast, snacks and evening wine.

Most of the resorts activities are located in the center of the lake on an island called The Dig. Built to look like a Mayan pyramid, this is the centerpiece of the resort. Here you will find the swimming pool, jaguar water slide, playground and arcade. Because of all the activities, this area tends to be one of the busiest places in the resort. If your looking to relax by the pool without the large crowds, try the one of the smaller pools located within your village.

El Centro is the main building of the resort. Here you will find the front desk and guest relations as well as a few more of the resorts amenities. Just outside the building is the marina where you can rent a boat and go boating on the large lake in the center of the resort.

Coronado Springs also features a few choices for dining as well. The Pepper Market is a cafeteria style restaurant featuring Mexican, Italian and American style foods. The Maya Grill is a full-service Mexican restaurant themed around a Mayan temple. Café Rix is a quick serve café featuring drinks, baked goods, wraps and more. The resort also has Rix Lounge, Siesta’s Pool Bar and Grill, Laguna Bar and room service to help rid your hunger.

Like all other Disney resorts, the Cornado Springs features complimentary transportation to and from the Disney theme parks and attractions as well as airport transportation to Orlando International Airport. Guests of the resort can also take advantage of the Extra Magic Hour in which one theme park opens an hour early or stay open a few hours late for hotel guests.
