The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall made a visit to Englewood this week. The 3/5 scale traveling memorial is a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC. Managed by the Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard, the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall allows people from all over to pay their respects to the men and women who paid the ultimate price during the Vietnam War. The memorial will be in Englewood through the weekend with a memorial service scheduled for 10am on Saturday. (Photo: November 30, 2012)

Since 1874, the St. Augustine Lighthouse has helped guide ships through the treacherous waters off the coast of St. Augustine. The keeper’s house was built to house the keeper and his family in 1876. It would remain the residence of the keep until the lighthouse was automated in 1955. Today the house is a museum that houses exhibits about the history and importance of the St. Augustine Lighthouse. (Photo: November 13, 2011)

2012 Venice Holiday Parade

Venice, Florida: With Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday behind us, thousands of spectators lined the streets of Venice to kick off the holiday season with the 37th annual Venice Holiday Parade. Spectators braved the brisk November weather to watch over a hundred performers march in this years parade. The festivities kicked off at five with a celebration that filled the air with holiday music and lit up the sky with lights as the Venice Avenue merchants lit up their holiday displays. Then at 7, the parade began its journey down the parade route. The adventure began on Park Avenue and headed down Venice Avenue, entertaining the crowd all the way to the Venice Community Center. Several thousand entertainers representing over 120 organization comprised the parade. The parade was sponsored by the City of Venice and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
